Family of four - including 3 kids - displaced after Janesville home caught fire

A family of four is displaced after their home caught on fire in Janesville Thursday afternoon. The city’s fire department says crews responded to a fire on the 200 block of Walnut Street, where they found smoke rising from the home. Firefighters found that flames had moved from the bathroom ceiling fan to a wall and into the roof.

Chief: 1 semi destroyed in fire, 2 damaged outside UPS building in Middleton

One semi-truck was destroyed and two others were damaged in a fire outside a business in Middleton Thursday, an official said. Rhode Island firefighters overwhelmingly reject contract proposal

The city’s firefighters union voted overwhelmingly Wednesday night against the ratification of a contract proposal that Mayor Joseph J. Solomon had heralded as a major advancement for Warwick’s finances. As proposed, the two-year deal provided no raises and it also resolved other issues, including a pension overhaul program that was reversed in a recent arbitration proceeding, according to Solomon.

Tourism arms first responders in Alabama county

The campaign is designed to utilize the knowledge of law enforcement and firefighters in a way you might not think about. New York Firefighters Union President Wants Better Turnout Gear After Back-to-Back Fires

Two massive fires in one day in the city of Troy have the firefighters’ union president continuing to call on city leaders for better staffing and another set of turnout gear. “It needs to be addressed. We can’t wait for a grant,” said Eric Wisher, Troy Uniformed Firefighters Association president. Wisher says the call volume has increased 40 percent over the years with new developments in the city.

Firefighters respond to house fire in Hatley

Crews are at the scene of a house fire on Tops Road in Hatley. NewsChannel 7 spoke with the homeowner at the scene. She tells us there were three people inside of the home at the time of the fire. Everyone made it out OK. Our reporter at the scene also spoke with the Hatley fire chief. He tells us, they are still working on putting out the fire, but there is extensive damage to the first floor and smoke damage to the second.

Follow Up: One dead in north side Milwaukee apartment fire

A man is dead after an apartment fire on Milwaukee's north side. Firefighters got a call about a fire at an apartment near 91st and Hampton around 8:45 Wednesday morning. When they arrived, they saw smoke and fire coming from the first floor. Officials say they found a man, thought to be in his 60s, by the entryway and pulled him out of the apartment.

Barn fire extinguished in Vesper

Several fire departments were dispatched to a barn fire late last night. The Vesper Fire Department took the call at 10:30 from a farm at 5230 Highway C in the Town of Hansen. Upon arrival crews found a 30-by-80 two-story barn fully involved in fire with multiple ground cover fires ignited by radiant heat from the barn blaze.

Two volunteer firefighters hurt after fire engine overturns in Indiana

Firefighter death in California's Ferguson fire ruled ‘serious accident,’ prompts safety changes

The July 2018 death of an inter-agency captain who was helping fight the Ferguson wildfire was ruled a “serious accident” and sparked an investigation and change in policies for the National Park Service. Capt. Brian Hughes, 33, of the NPS Arrowhead Hotshot agency, was killed on July 29, 2018, while he and his crew were removing hazardous standing dead trees to prevent the fire near Yosemite National Park from spreading, according to a news release.

California's Ghost Ship Trial: Witness Dies Before Testifying

La Crosse Fire Department eyes regionalization, fire station improvements in 5-year plan

Mabel Murphy's bar destroyed by fire in downtown Oshkosh

A well-known downtown Oshkosh bar was destroyed by a fire Tuesday morning. The fire broke out around 1:40 a.m. at an apartment building next to Mabel Murphy's bar in the 700 block of North Main Street, Oshkosh Fire Department spokesman John Holland said.
