The DeForest Windsor Fire Department is getting closer to purchasing two more vehicles.
An internal fire department committee approved plans to purchase an ambulance and rescue truck. Those plans were brought before the DeForest Windsor Fire Protection Board during its July 3 meeting.
According to LaFeber, the rescue truck would be ready for delivery in approximately nine to 12 months.

On July 15, 9 residential fire fatalities were reported by the Nation's news media.
One man was found dead following a house fire in the Village of Lyndon Station early Monday morning. The Juneau County Medical Examiner's office confirmed one person was killed on Monday. A damaged gas line sparked an explosion that leveled a home in a Murrieta neighborhood, leaving at least one person dead and 15 others injured.
The explosion was reported before 12:15 p.m. in the 23500 block of Wooden Horse Trail, where crews initially responded due to a ruptured gas line, Murrieta Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief David Lantzer said.

20 Buffalo city firefighters have been injured on the job in the last week.
Thursday, 7 Eyewitness News reported a firefighter had to be rushed on a stretcher from a blaze on Frankfort. Division fire chief Daniel Bossi said a first year firefighter from Engine 22 lost consciousness.
At that point last week, Fire Commissioner Bill Renaldo said there had been 15 firefighters injured fighting three, two alarm fires since the night before.

The call came in on July 5, 2018, at 12:31 pm: a vegetation fire in the vicinity of Klamathon Road, near the town of Hornbrook, California, just a few miles south of the Oregon border.

Around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, near Southeast Division and 11th Avenue, a 911 call came in about a 23-year-old woman in cardiac arrest.
Katie Anders and her sister Rachel Kennedy were walking out of a restaurant on Division when they noticed the woman who needed help. Rachel is a registered nurse, so she sprang into action.

Howard's Grove Fire Department responded to a large barn fire in Manitowoc County Monday.
It happened at a privately-owned farm in the town of Meeme.
Officials say no animals were injured in the fire.
Investigators believe the fire started when some farm machinery ignited hay.

During last week's Common Council meeting, the La Crosse City Council approved for the La Crosse Fire Department to conduct a feasibility study on adding a new fire station.
Currently the department has four stations throughout the city.

A fire has been reported at the Town of Maine's Fire Department building.
That building is on County Highway WW, at the intersection of County Highway K.
According to a Fire Chief with the Maine Fire Department, no one is injured and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters on Sunday night, July 14 responded to the scene of a shed fire on Kettle View Drive near Badger Road in the Town of Kewaskum. The call came in around 9 p.m.
The shed, which had become fully engulfed, was extinguished by fire personnel. The shed, and its contents, were a total loss estimated at over $100,000.

Fire Station 49 on Prentice Avenue in Madisonville was built in 1910, when firefighters traveled by horse and buggy.

VIDEO: More than 400 elevators got stuck when a massive blackout wiped out power in parts of Manhattan on Saturday, the city’s fire commissioner said.
The blackout left 73,000 customers without electricity for several hours on Saturday evening, Con Edison said.
At a press conference on Sunday, FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said more than 400 elevators got stuck during the outage.

Cardiologist Jebran Karam was buried under six to eight feet of rubble when his Ballantyne house exploded July 2, firefighters from Charlotte Fire Station No. 3 told reporters Friday.
Somehow, Karam stayed conscious. He called 911 on his smartwatch and stayed on the phone with dispatchers, so his rescue team knew he was alive.

A house in Exeter was totaled after a fire caused $400,000 in damage Sunday morning.
The Belleville Fire Department was dispatched to W. 2914 Willow Lane at 4:26 a.m. after reports of a residential structure fire.
According to a Facebook post from the Belleville Fire Department, the family's dog alerted the homeowners to the fire.
