The state Occupational Safety and Health Administration initiated an investigation after anonymous complaints. It fined the city $7,500 for not ensuring a proper respiratory protection program, $2,100 for not ensuring employees wore the right protective equipment, $420 for improper training, $420 for not maintaining a safety committee, $180 for a lack of equipment inspections and $180 for not keeping a hazard communication program.

A woman sustained "significant injuries" after a house fire broke out in a Mount Pleasant home.
At 11:31 p.m. Sunday, the South Shore Fire Department was dispatched to 1119 N. Summerset Drive for a report of a possible structure fire, according to a South Shore Fire Department news release.
Mount Pleasant police officers arrived on scene and confirmed smoke was visible from a single family home.

Authorities have identified the two snowmobile riders who died and a third who survived when their machines plunged into a lake in northern Wisconsin early Sunday morning.
Killed were David N. Erdman, 31, of Hubertus, and Kurtis W. Shernell, 27, of Hustisford, the Oneida County Sheriff's Office reported on Monday morning.

Nine people lost their home after a fire on the city’s east side early Monday morning.
Fire crews responded to the blaze after 1 a.m. in the 300 block of South Quincy Street and found smoke coming from a first-floor window of a two-story home, according to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department.
Officials said firefighters extinguished the blaze in less than 10 minutes.

When Carol Brown joined the Boulder Fire Department in 1991, she was one of roughly a dozen female firefighters. Today a shift battalion chief, Brown is one of seven.

A fire destroyed Sather Family Dental and the clinic’s half completed expansion on Douglas Street in Chetek on Friday evening, Jan. 3.

Many years of fundraising efforts, patience and persistence led the Adrian Fire Department to accomplish a decade-long goal that will help better serve their community and surrounding areas.

Well-respected and beloved Somerset Fire Chief Scott Jepson died suddenly on Thursday.
Jepson, 54, of Dighton, was a 27-year veteran, joining the Somerset Fire Department in 1992 and taking over as chief in 2008.
His death was announced by Somerset Deputy Fire Chief Jamison Barros, Police Chief George McNeil and Town Administrator Richard M.
