Cornell area firefighter returns home from hospital

An emotional day in Cornell on Friday, as Firefighter Justin Fredrickson was released from an Eau Claire hospital. “It is a brotherhood, fire departments are a brotherhood, I can’t explain it unless you’ve been here,” says Cornell Area Fire Department Chief Dennis Klass. Klass says the community support is overwhelming.

Madison firefighter and paramedic knew his job came with risk; then COVID-19 hit

Brandon Jones chalks it up to pure luck. There have been many calls Jones went on as a Madison firefighter and paramedic where he could have been infected with COVID-19. Like the young boy who broke his arm, whom Jones consoled closely even though the boy wasn’t wearing a mask. He found out later on that the boy tested positive for COVID-19.

6 firefighters hurt battling massive blaze that tore through strip of stores in New York

New Google.org COVID-19 database could hold key to disease's mysteries

Madison College Paramedic Academy students now training on-the-job with paramedics in the field

Madison garage fire causes $25,000 in damages

A garage fire that started near a wood burning stove caused tens of thousands of dollars to the detached structure. City Of La Crosse Files Lawsuit Calling Out 23 Companies For PFAS Contamination

The City of La Crosse claims products containing PFAS chemicals caused contamination of public and private wells in a lawsuit filed against nearly two dozen chemical companies on Thursday. The suit filed by Milwaukee-based law firm Crueger Dickinson and firm Napoli Shkolnik in La Crosse County Circuit Court alleges that cities like La Crosse used aqueous firefighting foams (AFFF) that contained perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) for decades without any knowledge of the harmful effects the chemicals pose to public health.

Anonymous donation helps Twin Lakes Fire Department breathe easier

A $75,000 donation from an anonymous donor helped the Twin Lakes Fire Department and Rescue Squad purchase 22 new self-contained breathing apparatus packs. Fire Chief Stan Clause said the donation was made in honor of former department member Johan Kjellander, who died in March 2020. Kjellander was a member of the department for 65 years, where he served as a rescue squad captain.

Neillsville Fire Department Responds to Chimney Fire

California city moves to put fire department in charge of mental health response calls, not police

Texas high school awarded $10K grant for invention designed to keep firefighters safe

NFL player donates $10,000 to Tennessee firefighter that recently lost new home

When tragedy recently struck a Nashville firefighter and Tennessee Titans season ticket holder, Derrick Henry stepped up to lend a helping hand. Local firefighter Jeremy Taylor, a father of four girls, recently lost his new Nashville home to a fire. After seeing the news on social media, Henry reached out to the Titans to ask how he could help.
