Thirteen patients at Ascension St. Elizabeth Campus in Appleton were transferred to other local hospitals Thursday following a chemical gas release.
Hazardous materials crews were called to the northwest portion of the hospital at 9 a.m.
Appleton Fire was notified to check the air quality.
According to the hospital’s statement:

A garage is completely destroyed after a fire, reports Fond du Lac Fire Rescue.
According to a release, the department was alerted to a garage on fire near the 100 block of Everett St. around 11:50 a.m. Wednesday.

A lab fire at the Wisconsin Energy Institute at UW-Madison prompted an evacuation on Tuesday.
Madison Fire Department crews responded to a fire alarm at around 1:20 p.m., though no smoke or fire could be seen when they arrived.

An 84-year-old woman from North Carolina is in serious condition following a crash on State Highway 33 near Singing Hill Road in the Town of Saukville on Tuesday, Aug. 31. The Somers and Paris fire departments are among 27 emergency response agencies that recently received a Rewarding Responders Grant from We Energies.

Gov. Tony Evers announced Friday that he has appointed a former Marshfield firefighter-paramedic as the new Wood County coroner.
David Patton will take the position left vacant since former Coroner Scott Brehm resigned May 15. Patton has been a deputy coroner in Wood County since March 2020.
