Webster teen saves 4 sisters from house fire then dog saves him

A 13-year-old Wisconsin boy is being credited with saving his four younger sisters from a house fire while their parents were at the grocery store. He tried to put the fire out himself but couldn’t, his dog eventually leading him away. Days after a fire tore through her home with her five kids inside, Kelly Omar searched through the rubble for anything she could salvage.

First responders rescue elderly couple from duplex fire in Port Washington

The Port Washington Fire Department responded to a side-by-side structure fire in Port Washington Sunday, Sept. 12. Authorities say the fire was coming from a duplex 404 N. Wisconsin Street in Port Washington. Reports indicate that one side of the duplex got heavy damage, while the other side of the residence wasn't severely damaged.

Town of Peshtigo Fire Department has placed a new rescue craft into service

The Town of Peshtigo Fire Department has placed a new rescue craft into service that is available to respond to water rescues and other water-related emergencies. The new 15-foot Mercury Ocean Runner rigid inflatable rescue boat has been outfitted with a 40 HP Mercury outboard motor and equipped with state-of-the art navigation, lighting and rescue equipment.

Green Bay fire crews only use fire extinguisher to clear smoldering fire in apartment

Green Bay fire crews only used a fire extinguisher to clear a fire that had ignited in an apartment unit on Saturday afternoon. According to the Green Bay Metro Fire Department, on Saturday at around 1:11 p.m., crews responded to the 1300 block Western Avenue for reports of a fire that was in the bathroom of one of the apartment units in the building.

Fort Atkinson fire, police chiefs discuss staffing needs

Information and rationale relating to the need for additional staffing for the Fort Atkinson Fire and Police departments, starting in 2023, was presented to city council members and the public Tuesday night. The city is proposing to bring 911 ambulance service under the umbrella of the fire department, and as part of a public safety staffing proposal will be looking at an April 5, 2022 referendum question asking the electorate for approval to exceed the state levy limit for the purpose of adding 2 police officers, 6 firefighter/paramedics and 6 firefighter/EMTs and all necessary equipment to support those additions to allow those departments to meet the growing demand for their services.

The annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Green Bay is keeping the memory of the firefighters of 9/11 alive

As the 20th anniversary of 9/11 approaches, local firefighters are remembering the FYPD firefighters who gave their lives on that fateful day. Every year, Pierce Manufacturing and the Green Bay Metro Fire Department hosts a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field. Participants climb or walk the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center in memory of the attacks.

9/11 memorial events in Northeast Wisconsin, locals honor fallen heroes

In Northeast Wisconsin, there are multiple events popping up to pay tribute to everyone who died during the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 – honoring all of the individuals 20 years later. According to Associated Press, nearly 3,000 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks. 2,750 people were killed at the World Trade Center in New York, 184 died at the Pentagon, and 40 more died in Pennsylvania.

Wisconsin fire departments awarded $1.7 million for training, equipment

Several fire departments in Wisconsin, including a few in the south central region, received more than $1.7 million Friday to fund new training programs and equipment. Superior Fire Gives Expert Advice on Fire Safety

With severe dry conditions, practicing fire safety is more crucial now than ever to prevent indoor fires. As of now, there have been 13 indoor/outdoor structure fires in Superior this year. Kitchen fires are the most common indoor fire incidents, but leaving open flames and heat sources unattended is a big reason why fires are going up.
