Gardner trailer home loss after fire

The Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department responded to a trailer home fire in Gardner Sunday afternoon. The call of a trailer home engulfed in flames at 8919 County CC came in around noon, said BUG Fire Chief Curt Vandertie. The fire department also received a call about the trailer’s propane tank being on fire.

Racine investigators probe cause of house fire

Fire investigators are trying to figure out what caused an early- morning house fire Sunday at 2408 Carmel Ave. According to a press release issued by the Racine Fire Department, neighbors heard a noise, then saw an orange glow at the home at about 12:40 a.m. when the call for help was made. The blaze coming from the first-floor bedroom was quickly put out by responding firefighters but not before $40,000 in damage was done to the home.

Dallas mayor rejects bill to rescue police and fire pension fund calling it a ‘massive taxpayer bailout'

5 children dead in South Dakota house fire

The community of Spearfish awoke to tragedy Saturday morning, when an early morning house fire claimed the lives of five children, ages 6-11. The fire was reported at 4:23 a.m. at a multifamily residence at 1135 Ames St., on the corner of Ames and Oliver streets. Neighbors and authorities describe the structure as a two-story house, with an apartment attached at the back, where multiple families lived.

Fired Washington firefighter’s religious email case will be heard by State Supreme Court

A Spokane Valley firefighter trying to get his job back since he was fired in 2012 will argue his case against the Spokane Valley Fire Department before the Washington State Supreme Court later this year. Capt. Jon Sprague said he’s not surprised that the Supreme Court decided to review his case. “I’ve known all along that we’ve had a solid case,” he said.

FDNY quietly issues tougher anti-hazing policy after abuse claims

Without any public announcement, Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro on March 21 issued a new five-page policy.

Fire Destroys Chippewa County Home

VIDEO: A home and attached garage are destroyed after a fire in Chippewa county. It happened in the 15- thousand block of state highway 27. According to chief Dennis Klass with the Cornell area fire department. The call came in from a passerby just after 12:30 this morning. Klass says the buildings had a steel roof, which made it hard to fight the fire because water couldn't get in.

One person dead in Black River Falls house fire

VIDEO: One person is dead following a house fire in Black River falls early Sunday morning. According to the Black River Falls Fire Department, it received a call shortly after midnight for a report of a fully engulfed apartment fire at 1256 Harrison Street. Upon arriving on scene, crews observed heavy fire venting out a large window and the doorway of the one-story multi family wood frame apartment complex.

Three candidates set to interview for Altoona fire chief position

Three candidates are expected to interview for the Altoona fire chief position. This will be the community's first, full-time fire chief. Right now, Jesse James serves as both the police and the fire chief. President of the Altoona Police and Fire Commission Michael Wall said there were nine applicants for the position.

New Chippewa Falls fire station holds door-opening ceremony

VIDEO: A local fire station opened its doors for the first time at its new location. The Chippewa Falls Fire and Emergency services department hosted a door-opening ceremony Thursday afternoon. The new station is located in the 1300 hundred block of Chippewa Crossing Boulevard in Chippewa Falls. The fire chief says there are many benefits to the new station, including a training facility for firefighters and additional space.

Grill likely caused house fire in Eau Claire's Princeton neighborhood

Eau Claire firefighters quickly doused a house fire Thursday evening in the Princeton Valley development on the city’s northeast side. The fire at 4118 Liberty Court was reported at about 6:30 p.m., and the back side of the home was totally involved with flames when firefighters arrived, said Eau Claire fire Battalion Chief Matt Jaggar.
