VIDEO: The Milwaukee Fire Department is investigating after a fire destroyed multiple garages on the city's southside. The fire broke out around 4 am on Saturday morning near 25th and Mitchell. Fire crews at the scene tell 12 News say when they arrived two garages were fully engulfed. The fire quickly spread to four other garages.

The Holmen Area Fire Department gave residents in the fire district a chance May 6 to see the improvements the emergency service has made in recent years during it’s first Family Fun Day event. “We’re trained, equipped and proud,” said Mike Durkin, HAFD firefighter and organizer of the event. The department decided to hold the event in lieu of its annual dance fundraiser.

Keys and dollar bills changed hands in the Enbridge parking lot Wednesday. Four of the energy company's retired fleet vehicles were donated to Douglas County fire departments and a Superior High School mentoring program, for $1 apiece. "Our long-term goal is to turn it into a brush truck," said Lakeside Fire Chief Nova Nordrum of the donated 2008 Chevy Silverado extended cab.

In an embarrassing verdict for the city of Charlotte, a jury Thursday found the Fire Department retaliated against former fire investigator Crystal Eschert for raising questions about the safety of construction work at a new office building, awarding her $1.5 million.
The jury rejected Charlotte’s claims that Eschert’s firing wasn’t retaliation.

Three children died as multiple homes burned in Montgomery County early Friday, fire officials say.
Another child, a 10 year old, was critically hurt along with other family members.
The fire appeared to start at the back of one home before spreading to another. Search and rescue efforts were underway along Tamina Road at Johnson Road before 4 a.

A heated legal battle is still simmering between two high-ranking city firefighters.
The lawsuit, filed by Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jeffrey Courtney, is claiming that Chief Frank Tidwell racially discriminated against him because he is white. The lawsuit also names the City of Plainfield and the Plainfield Fire Department as defendants.

On the surface, it may not look like a 12-year-old boy and a firefighter would have much in common.
But this heartwarming video showed Logan, a 12-year-old boy from Gilbert, and Mase Mattingly, a Gilbert firefighter, bonding over their shared prosthetic legs.
Candy Carson, Logan’s mom, said in the video that five years ago, Logan had strep throat, which sent him into septic shock.

The town of Necedah is still looking for a new emergency management director. Town officials are looking to replace Gerry Ganther, who resigned from the position in early March. Juneau County does have an emergency management director who oversees the entire county, but with severe weather season in full swing, if the town would get hit with a tornado or wildfire breakout, it could be in trouble.

The Vesper Fire Department received the call just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday of a fire at TJ's Auto. When they arrived they found fire in the ventilation system, walls and ceiling of the building.

VIDEO: Heroics come in all forms and Greenfield firefighters were ready to answer the call of some stuck ducks. Some ducklings had fallen into the sewer but there's a twist to the story we never anticipated. This all unfolded along Honey Creek Driver near Elm Dale Elementary School. Firefighters were able to scoop up several of the baby ducks, but there was one that was just too far away.

One person died in a fire at an apartment complex in Manitowoc. It broke out shortly before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Haven on N. 8th Street. Firefighters needed to break windows to get excess smoke out of the building. Manitowoc fire chief, Todd Blaser, tells WLUK the amount of smoke made it difficult to fight this fire.

A Lucas County Common Pleas Court judge ordered today that a man convicted of setting a fire that killed two Toledo firefighters spend a maximum of 20 years in prison.
The defendant’s plea, conviction, and sentencing came just after Judge Stacy Cook declared a mistrial in the case because jurors heard testimony that was considered incriminating toward the suspect.

Alameda County supervisors extended their ambulance contract with Paramedics Plus by three years despite fierce criticism by firefighters complaining the process wasn’t open for competitive bids and changes in service delivery were not included.
Supervisors voted in favor 3 to 1, with one recusal, extending the contract until June 1, 2020.

A fire in Brooklyn Criminal Court injured eight state court officers and five firefighters and forced an early recess Wednesday afternoon.
The 4:04 p.m. blaze on the sixth floor generated heavy smoke that led to the evacuation of the 10-story building in downtown Brooklyn.
"There was a lot of smoke in the hallway," said one court staffer who declined to give his name.

VIDEO - A Fort Madison fire engine rolled into a slough along the Mississippi River on Wednesday night while responding to an accident.
Thursday morning Fort Madison Fire Chief Joey Herren said that he was planning to get a crane to move the truck and the road will be closed until further notice.
Chief Herren says the truck was headed down 35th Street when it slid off the edge of the gravel road.

Burton Fire District Capt. Ralph Neiderhiser celebrated his 80th birthday Tuesday. Sixty five of those years have been spent in fire service.
“If you do what you enjoy, it ain’t (like) going to work,” he said Wednesday.
Neiderhiser began his career as a volunteer with his father in Pennsylvania when he was 16, he said.
