None injured in Cornell mill fire

No one was injured during a Thursday fire at a Cornell manufacturing plant, Chief Dennis Klass of the Cornell Fire Department said. A fire was reported at Mule-Hide Manufacturing, 50 Bridge St., in Cornell at 9:29 a.m. Klass said the department arrived on scene and found the mill’s dryers on fire. The dryers are approximately 180-foot-long cylinders that dry paper being processed.

West side Eau Claire fire displaces business, family of 6

A fire that broke out Thursday morning at a multiuse building on Eau Claire’s near west side devastated a local business and displaced a family of six. Firefighters arrived at 1619 Bellinger St. to find the building that houses Mai’s Food Catering and an apartment above it engulfed in black smoke and flames.

Lawsuits continue after 2013 Germann Road fire

Years after a fire burned 8,100 acres in Douglas and Bayfield counties, lawsuits continue between insurers as to who will cover the losses. The District III Court of Appeals ruled last week that a $2 million general liability policy Secura Mutual Insurance issued to a logging company at the center of the 2013 Germann Road fire would apply if the logger is found liable for the fire-related damages.

Veteran firefighter named new chief of Oakland Fire Department

New York town's councilwoman says she is being bullied by fire department

Louisiana fire department requests $375K for armored vehicle

North Shore Fire: Fire breaks out at building that is home to many elderly and disabled residents

North Shore Fire and Rescue responded to the Parkside Commons Apartments, 1400 W. Custer Ave., for a report of a fire on the second floor of the building. The first arriving fire company reported an active evacuation in progress with residents reporting moderate smoke conditions on the second floor. Crews located a fire in an apartment on the second floor.

Mount Pleasant man arrested after reportedly kicking firefighter

A Mount Pleasant man has been arrested after reportedly kicking a firefighter in the stomach. Andrew W. Nielsen, 22, of the 4300 block of Danbury Lane, is charged with a felony count of battery to a firefighter, two counts of misdemeanor disorderly conduct and a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer.

California firefighters, officers rushed to help as fires destroyed their homes

Assistant Santa Rosa Fire Marshal Paul Lowenthal was in what sounded like a hailstorm of embers and ash that battered his truck as he tried to find a way through the fire burning above the city. New York firefighter dies after responding to motor vehicle accident

Pennsylvania fire company closes after sexual abuse scandal

Lights were out at the West Willow Fire Company on Wednesday. The volunteer fire company on West Willow Road in Pequea Township is closed, effective Tuesday night. “They came out and covered our roof one night,” Charles McGill said. McGill, who lives right next to the fire company, said he was sad to hear the news of the closure.
