West Virginia teen accused of stealing fire department truck, claiming to be chief

A teen investigators say stole a fire department vehicle is behind bars. Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies say Aubrey Turley III, 18, of Uneeda, is charged with grand larceny. Turley was arraigned Thursday afternoon by a Kanawha County Magistrate. According to a criminal complaint, Turley stole a pickup truck from the Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department Thursday morning.

Florida EMS Chief: PulsePoint app turns citizens into lifesavers

Ordinary citizens are being called on to help save lives in Sarasota County with the aid of a smartphone app that notifies users when a person nearby has gone into cardiac arrest. The PulsePoint app, which can be downloaded onto a smartphone, shows users within a quarter-mile how to locate and use public-access Automated External Defibrillators and how to perform hands-only CPR.

Update: Lake Delton Mt. Olympus maintenance building fire damage estimated at $1.2 million

Sandalwood smoke brings Madison firefighters to Downtown apartment building

Sandalwood has a nice smell when burned, but using too much can bring firefighters to your door. That's what happened Wednesday evening when the Madison Fire Department was called out to the 600 block of West Doty Street because there was smoke in the hallway of an apartment building. A full structure fire response was sent to the building, as firefighters went up to the fourth floor, where the smoke was reported to be coming from.

Crews put out Jefferson County business fire

No one was injured in a business fire in Fort Atkinson on Thursday morning. Fort Atkinson Fire Chief Daryl Rausch said crews were called to On-Cor Frozen Foods Redi-Serve plant on Industrial Dive. Rausah said the fire originated in a fryer and made its way through the exhaust ducts. It was quickly contained.

Smoke detector saves Bellevue man in house fire

VIDEO: A man in Bellevue was awaken by his working smoke detector after his house caught on fire Wednesday night. At around 11 p.m., Bellevue Fire and Rescue units responded to 2978 Tordeur Lane after a structure fire was reported. Fire and smoke was showing from the south side of the house. Fire units were able to control the fire in 20 minutes.

Rhode Island firefighter dies after collapsing at fire scene

Federal judge orders Florida city to give fired firefighter her job back

Former firefighter Tanja Vidovic should be reinstated to Tampa Fire Rescue, a U.S. District Court judge ruled Wednesday, nearly two years after she filed a federal lawsuit against the city and was fired the next day. Ohio city asks judge to disqualify ex-fire official's lawyers for ethics issues

Eau Claire firefighters fan the flames of love for Valentine's Day

Dressed in their gear, off-duty firefighters with the Eau Claire Fire Department delivered every flower arrangement imaginable to sweethearts around the Chippewa Valley. The fire fighters told News 18 they enjoy seeing the reactions of recipients when they get their bouquet, and that celebrating the day of love is extra unique because their flower delivery job lets them show love as a fire station, to the Eau Claire community.

Grand Chute's Gretzinger honored as state firefighter of the year

Fire destroys Mt. Olympus building; 2nd fire at a Wisconsin Dells resort in 3 weeks

A fire destroyed a maintenance building at the Mt. Olympus Theme Park in Wisconsin Dells early Wednesday morning, with nobody hurt in the blaze. This was the second major fire at a theme park in Wisconsin Dells in three weeks. On Jan. 25, fire destroyed a dormitory under construction at Wilderness Resort, with that fire ruled to be arson.

Mount Pleasant board postpones vote on EMS station

Following the outcry from a few neighbors, the Mount Pleasant Village Board voted Monday night 5-1 to press the pause button on rezoning a plot of land on Emmertsen Road for an emergency medical service station for two weeks to get some questions answered. Village Trustee John Hewitt was the only one to vote against putting the project on hold.
