Kenosha man charged with New Lisbon fires, burglaries

A Kenosha man faces 19 charges, including three arsons, after allegedly stealing property in New Lisbon in the spring of 2015. Arthur E. Sagel, 34, was charged with the alleged crimes on April 25. For the three arson of building charges, Sagel could be fined $100,000 or be imprisoned no more than 40 years, or both, for each offense.

Merrill Fire Dept. buys 360-degree sonar search and rescue device thanks to donation

Woman, dog rescued from burning Oshkosh apartment

A woman and her dog were rescued after jumping from a window of an upstairs apartment that was on fire Monday evening on North Main Street, authorities said. The Oshkosh Fire Department responded about 5 p.m. to a report of a fire in the 400 block of North Main Street, according to a news release from department spokesman John Holland.

Greenfield firefighters get sauna to sweat out toxins from fires

With early studies showing that firefighters are three times as likely as the general population to develop cancer, Greenfield Fire Chief Jon Cohn decided it was time to try something. That something is a sauna where it is hoped that firefighters can sweat out the toxins carried by smoke that get into their bodies through their skin.

9/11, Miracle on the Hudson fire boat finds home in Baileys Harbor

Riverside Fire District swears in new chief

VIDEO: A new area fire department officially welcomes its leader, according to Everest Metro Police. Chief Kelly Hanink was sworn in as chief of the Riverside Fire District around 9:30 a.m. Monday, according to a post on Facebook. Hanink comes from Eden Prairie Fire Department in Minnesota. She has formal education, fire technical training and management experience.

Duplex fire on Green Bay's east side leaves 3 homeless

Three people are without a home after a Monday morning fire at a duplex in Green Bay. The Green Bay Metro Fire Dept. says it was called to 2582 Wildflower Row around 10:15 a.m. A neighbor was reporting smoke and charring on the windows. When crews arrived, the tenant of the other side of the duplex was outside and told firefighters the people who lived in the other half were probably not home.

Firefighter injured in Mount Calvary fire

A 25-year-old Mount Calvary firefighter was injured while fighting a house fire Sunday afternoon. At 3:23 p.m. Sunday, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office and the Mount Calvary Fire Department were dispatched to W977 South Shore Lane for a house fire. The residence sustained significant damage in the kitchen area of the house.

Construction proving to be a challenge for Edgerton first responders

VIDEO: Construction projects are proving to be a major roadblock for the Edgerton Fire Department when responding to crashes on the roadways. Sunday's three-car-crash on the interstate in Rock County proved to be an example of just that. Four people suffered non-life threatening injuries. Edgerton's Fire Chief says it's been difficult, dealing with the eight miles of construction with concrete barriers on both sides.

Fire Departments and EMS stretched by thinning volunteers

Knowles named Fond du Lac assistant fire chief

James Knowles III is the new Assistant Fire Chief of Training and Safety after a meeting of the Police and Fire Commission of the City of Fond du Lac Thursday. According to a release from the commission, the appointment was made unanimously. Knowles is a 20-year veteran of the fire service and has risen up through the ranks, previously serving as a lieutenant and captain.

Multiple garages destroyed by fire on Milwaukee's southside

VIDEO: The Milwaukee Fire Department is investigating after a fire destroyed multiple garages on the city's southside. The fire broke out around 4 am on Saturday morning near 25th and Mitchell. Fire crews at the scene tell 12 News say when they arrived two garages were fully engulfed. The fire quickly spread to four other garages.

Holmen Area Fire Department shares fun with the family

The Holmen Area Fire Department gave residents in the fire district a chance May 6 to see the improvements the emergency service has made in recent years during it’s first Family Fun Day event. “We’re trained, equipped and proud,” said Mike Durkin, HAFD firefighter and organizer of the event. The department decided to hold the event in lieu of its annual dance fundraiser.

Enbridge donation helps Douglas County fire departments, students

Keys and dollar bills changed hands in the Enbridge parking lot Wednesday. Four of the energy company's retired fleet vehicles were donated to Douglas County fire departments and a Superior High School mentoring program, for $1 apiece. "Our long-term goal is to turn it into a brush truck," said Lakeside Fire Chief Nova Nordrum of the donated 2008 Chevy Silverado extended cab.

Town of Necedah continues emergency director search

The town of Necedah is still looking for a new emergency management director. Town officials are looking to replace Gerry Ganther, who resigned from the position in early March. Juneau County does have an emergency management director who oversees the entire county, but with severe weather season in full swing, if the town would get hit with a tornado or wildfire breakout, it could be in trouble.

Firefighters fight Wood County blaze for 7 hours

VIDEO: It took firefighters about 7 hours to put out a fire at a business in the Town of Seneca in Wood County. The Vesper Fire Department received the call just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday of a fire at TJ's Auto. When they arrived they found fire in the ventilation system, walls and ceiling of the building.

Tough call for Greenfield Firefighters on duck rescue

VIDEO: Heroics come in all forms and Greenfield firefighters were ready to answer the call of some stuck ducks. Some ducklings had fallen into the sewer but there's a twist to the story we never anticipated. This all unfolded along Honey Creek Driver near Elm Dale Elementary School. Firefighters were able to scoop up several of the baby ducks, but there was one that was just too far away.

Manitowoc Apartment Fire Turns Deadly

One person died in a fire at an apartment complex in Manitowoc. It broke out shortly before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at Parkview Haven on N. 8th Street. Firefighters needed to break windows to get excess smoke out of the building. Manitowoc fire chief, Todd Blaser, tells WLUK the amount of smoke made it difficult to fight this fire.

First Responders Graduation Great News For Northern Door Volunteer Fire Departments

Fire departments across the Northern Door County received a boost in recruits recently when 23 students graduated from Emergency Medical Response training. As volunteer fire departments across the country struggle with staffing, the program held in Northern Door County addressed the critical shortage of first responders in the area.

Lodi Fire Station Needs Urgent

A Lodi Area emergency services building may be inching closer to fruition, but the current Lodi Fire Department needs unavoidable repairs, according to a report at a Fire/EMS April 24 meeting. The future of the fire department was on the table at a special joint midterm meeting of the town boards of Lodi and West Point, the city of Lodi council, the Lodi Area Fire Commission and the Lodi Area Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Commission.
