2 People Displaced By Overnight Fire in Appleton

A fire on Appleton's north side forced two people from their house Thursday night. Firefighters say they were called to the 600 block of W. Parkway Boulevard just after 6:30. When they arrived, crews could see smoke in the house. Firefighters quickly put out a fire on a living room chair. Other areas of the home were damaged by smoke and heat, and the house cannot be lived in.

Family of five escapes Sussex house fire

A Sussex family escaped safely after their house caught fire Thursday night. Firefighters responded to Woodland Creek Drive and Chestnut Hill at about 9:00 p.m. and found smoke and flames coming from the house. A family member told CBS 58 News that a mother and four children lived there, but all got out safely.

Watertown Assistant Fire Chief found not guilty

Watertown Assistant Fire Chief Tim Gordon was found not guilty of obstructing a police officer after a lengthy trial in Lake Country Municipal Court on Friday. The municipal charge against Gordon was initiated by the city of Watertown and alleges he intentionally misrepresented an incident that occurred while he was on duty in March conducting a fire inspection.

Manitowoc crews retrieve car that crashed in Lake Michigan during snowstorm

It took authorities about half an hour to get a sunken vehicle out of Lake Michigan and onto a tow truck Thursday morning. Manitowoc police and fire department workers began working on removing the sedan at about 11 a.m. A crew of two firefighters took a boat to the car and hooked it up on a tow truck.

Kenosha officials, first responders, agencies plan responses to emergencies

When disaster strikes, it takes more than a first responder to make the call. It takes a partnership between the community and its organizations. That’s what representatives of about 90 public and private organizations learned Wednesday morning during a Wisconsin Emergency Management workshop at the Kenosha Medical Center.

No one injured in trailer fire on county highway in Watertown

No one was injured in a fire that caused extensive damage to a trailer home at 9027 County Highway Q Tuesday night. According to Watertown Interim Fire Chief Kraig Biefeld, nobody was home when firefighters arrived on the scene at about 3:24 p.m. Biefeld said it took firefighters about 20 minutes to knock down the fire, which was contained to its area of origin shortly after crews arrived.

Follow Up: Buffalo County fire kills father, 2-year-old girl

Buffalo County authorities continue to investigate the cause of a fire Tuesday morning that killed a father and his 2-year-old daughter at their Buffalo City home and do not suspect foul play, Sheriff Mike Schmidt-knecht said. Douglas Shawley, 30, and Genevieve Shawley, 2, were killed in the fire, according to sheriff’s office officials.

Portage panel plans for fire chief, other leaders succession

Portage Fire Chief Clayton Simonson has been at the helm of the Portage Fire Department for 13 years, and hasn’t indicated any readiness to retire. But when the time comes for Simonson to hang up his turnout gear — temporarily or permanently — there’s a plan in place to pinpoint his successor. The city’s Human Resources Committee on Tuesday took a long look at a draft of a succession plan for Simonson.

State can no longer enforce apartment building sprinkler rule

VIDEO: A 7-year-old rule that requires fire sprinklers to be put in new apartment buildings with three to 20 units will no longer be enforced by the state of Wisconsin. 2 dead after mobile home fire in Buffalo County

Two people were killed in an early morning fire in Buffalo County. It happened around 5 a.m. in Buffalo City on Circle Drive. According to the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department, the fire was on the back half of a mobile home. Shortly after arriving, deputies say there was a small explosion that they believe was a small propane tank located near the home.

13-year-old boy discovers fire in Woodruff home, helped alert authorities and saved pets

A Woodruff family now finds themselves without a home for the holidays after a fire late Tuesday afternoon caused severe damage. It is unknown exactly how much damage there is, or how the fire got started. But, what authorities do know, is that no one got hurt. No criminal charges for volunteer firefighter who drove into bar in West Bend

A Washington County volunteer firefighter won’t face any criminal charges after crashing his truck into a bar. It happened on December 3rd in West Bend. 47-year-old Bradley Enright was cited for OWI, first offense, but the owners of Rally Time, the bar that was struck, have opted not to press charges.

Early morning fire damages Wausau duplex

Residents got out safely Tuesday morning when a fire broke out in their home, according to police. A caller reported a fire in a duplex in the 500 block of Chicago Avenue 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. Firefighters and police responded to the scene and the fire was extinguished by 2 a.m., according to the Wausau Police Department.

Janesville Chief Accused of Malfeasance by Former Employee

A former Janesville Fire Department employee alleges the fire chief and other fire department employees lied to police that he "might be mentally unstable and dangerous," according to complaints filed with the Janesville Police and Fire Commission. Follow Up: Fire at Stolley's Hogg Alley in Oconomowoc caused by cigarette

A fire at Stolley's Hogg Alley, 2008 N. Venice Beach Road, Summit, was likely due to a cigarette. First units for Western Lakes Fire District arrived at the restaurant at 12:09 a.m. Dec. 8 for a fire that began near the front door. "Hogg Alley, after we investigated it, we felt it started outside as a result of a smoking material," said Western Lakes Fire Chief Brad Bowen.

Crews respond to barn fire in Jefferson County overnight

VIDEO: Emergency crews are responding to a fire between Cambridge and Fort Atkinson. The Cambridge Fire Department says the call came to them at 12:36 a.m. Monday. Kenosha: Five injured in head-on collision

Five people were injured in a two-vehicle, head-on collision in the 7900 block of Sheridan Road Sunday night. Kenosha Fire Department rescue personnel and police responded to the crash at 9:18 p.m., taking the victims to Kenosha Medical Center, St. Catherine’s Medical Center and Aurora Medical Center, according to Battalion Chief Wes Bernhardt.
