VIDEO: 5 without home after Virginia fire

Five people have been left without a home after a house fire on St. Cecelia Drive in Chesterfield, leading the Chesterfield Fire Department to issue a warning to other residents. The fire department received a call at 8 am and the first crews arrived on scene within 4 minutes. There, they found flames emerging from the roof of the home.

Nevada firefighters invent lens shield used across the United States

VIDEO: Two Sparks firefighters are now providing a piece of equipment to fire stations all over the country. ‘We came up with an idea of trying to find a way to protect the lens of our SCBA mask,” said co-owner Cody Cavin. What started as an idea became BA Shields, where they manufacture shields that cover the lens of a firefighter’s self-contained breathing apparatus.

Michigan city unveils $1M fire truck 5 years after last one went up in flames

PHOTOS: The city of Highland Park has added a $1 million truck to its firefighting fleet, the first new vehicle for its Fire Department since a private resident donated one nine years ago. The city received about $850,000 from the state to buy Ladder 1 with the help of state Rep. Helena Scott, D-Detroit, according to Highland Park Mayor Hubert Yopp.

Baltimore’s Fireboat Could Help Remove Stuck Ship, Union Officials Say

PHOTOS: The Baltimore City Fire Department’s largest boat could be used to rescue a cargo ship that has been stuck in the Chesapeake Bay since mid-March, according to the local firefighters’ union. The Baltimore Firefighters IAFF Local 734 said in a social media post on Sunday that the fireboat has the ability to help with operations to safely remove the Hong Kong-flagged ship Ever Forward from the bay.

VIDEO: Large fire burns Texas city's police department building, historic church

Crews in a small Texas community are working to put out a fire that engulfed the city Thursday afternoon. Heavy flames filled the city of Ranger's downtown area and engulfed historic structures including the police department building and a 100-year-old church. Video taken by the Eastland County Today newspaper showed crews working to put out the fire at the historic Second Baptist Church and the police station.

For years, the fire prevention messaging was simple and snappy: When you change your clocks for daylight saving time, change the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms. Tow truck drivers pushing for change in warning lights in Illinois

Tow truck driving can be a dangerous job when workers are along the interstate cleaning up the scene of an accident or towing a vehicle away. After the loss of Ross Booker, local tow truck drivers are asking if something can be done to make their jobs easier. Booker was killed by a 16-year-old after a Scott's Law violation in early March.

LED Study: To protect first responders, brighter isn't better

When it comes to protecting first responders at accident scenes nationwide, brighter isn’t better. A recent study by the Emergency Responder Safety Institute revealed that the light-emitting diode flashers on police cruisers, fire engines, and ambulances that spray the night with intense beams to protect first responders from oncoming traffic actually create a lot of glare, and that effect intensifies when the light bounces off retroreflective chevrons attached to the back of emergency vehicles.

NBA player shares big night with Delaware firefighters, first responders who saved him four years ago

It was March 25, 2018, and then high school standout Bones Hyland was in his room in his family’s Delaware home after an AAU game. He was watching the Kansas vs. Duke Elite Eight game on his laptop and talking to a friend when his room started to fill with black smoke. The home was quickly engulfed in fire and Hyland was forced to jump from his second-story window to safety on the ground.

VIDEO: Farm in Ohio catches fire after several explosions

Several explosions lead to a fire at the Timbuk Tree Farm in Licking County early Tuesday morning. Firefighters at the scene said explosions within one building happened at the farm located on the 2000 block of Timbuk Road in Granville around 2 a.m. Three buildings that have offices and products that were being shipped out are on fire, as well as the shipping area.
