San Francisco city officials have launched a formal probe into allegations of racism and hazing at their fire training academy, NBC Bay Area has learned. VIDEO: Two people escaped injury Sunday morning when their hot air balloon crashed into power lines on Meade Street north of Wege Road in Outagamie County. One of the occupants felt tingling in his hands when they hit the power lines. They were instructed to stay in the basket until We Energies arrived to cut the power.

Firefighters were called to a barn fire in the town of Lyndon just after noon on Saturday, Dec. 2. Dispatchers received several 911 calls reporting the barn fire on County Highway F in south-central Sheboygan County. Responding officers said a portion of the barn was fully engulfed, but that it was empty and no injuries were reported.

PHOTO: On Saturday around 6:04 p.m. Fond du Lac Fire responded to 438 4th Street for a car fire. When firefighters arrived they found a car fire that spread to the house and garage. The fire also melted the siding of a neighboring house. The owner of the car used a fire extinguisher to try and put the fire out before firefighters arrived.

A new Mauston fire station may cost more than initially anticipated. The Mauston City Council gave an update on progress to the new fire station at its meeting Nov. 28. Originally, the cost of the fire station was anticipated to be about $2.3 million. But Mauston City Administrator Nathan Thiel believes the likely cost will actually range between $2.

A 60-year-old New York firefighter/safety officer has died in his sleep of an apparent cardiac issue after responding to a technical rescue hours before. According to the United States Fire Administration (USFA), Robert A. Fitch, a member of the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department, had responded to a rescue call involving a person who became stuck on some cliffs after attempting to rescue a pet.

After more than 10 years as Fort Worth's fire chief, Rudolph "Rudy" Jackson Jr. has announced his retirement effective in March. "He said he has had a long career here as a firefighter and he's moving on to retired life," said Kyle Falkner, Fire Department spokesman. A malfunctioning toaster stuck in the down position caused a kitchen fire that severely damaged a home Thursday on the city's north side. No injuries were reported as a result of a grass fire in the Town of Sun Prairie on Wednesday, Nov. 29. Sun Prairie Fire Dept. Lt. An Aurora Fire station under construction near East Jewell Avenue and E-470 caught fire Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews battled flames shooting from the roof of Aurora Fire Station No. 15, which is currently under construction in the Murphy Creek neighborhood. The Orlando firefighters union says the paramedic fired last week because he violated health privacy laws was suffering from PTSD after responding to the Pulse nightclub massacre and was not receiving the treatment he requested. Josh Granada, who was one of the first responders to Pulse in June 2016, was terminated after he admitted to audio-recording a person during a medical call earlier this year and sharing it with co-workers.
