Winds quickly spread Detroit pallet blaze as 60 firefighters battle for 7 hours

PHOTOS: High winds on Thursday spread fire and embers across a pallet factory, vacant homes, occupied buildings and a bus garage in downtown Detroit, requiring 60 firefighters to battle flames for seven hours and injuring one on the crew. Then, power was knocked out in the area as the fire raged. Dave Fornell, deputy fire commissioner for the Detroit Fire Department, said the fire started Thursday in a palette factory near Pulford and Beaufait.

Two people safe but displaced after Fitchburg apartment building catches fire

The two occupants are safe but displaced after their apartment building caught fire in the 3100 block of Seminole Highway around 8:13 p.m., City of Fitchburg Fire Chief Joe Pulvermacher tells NBC15 News at the scene.

Two people displaced after home goes up in flames in Town of Sun Prairie

Two people are displaced for at least a night after their home caught fire in the Town of Sun Prairie Thursday evening. Firefighters tell NBC15 News that the fire started at the home in the 5700 block of Twin Lane around 5:45 p.m. The two people who live there will be displaced Thursday night as crews continue to look for hot spots.

Firefighters respond to large fire at apartment complex in East Troy

Firefighters on Thursday morning, May 7 responded to the scene of a fire at the Honey Creek Apartments in East Troy. The came in around 8 a.m. Upon arrival, crews found heavy flames and smoke pouring from the roof of the building. Officials say the fire broke out the second floor. More than 20 departments responded to the scene.

Fire destroys De Pere home

De Pere Fire Rescue says a fire destroyed a house Wednesday night. Fire crews were called to the home on Jordan Road at the intersection with Saddlebrook Lane just before 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6. Neighbor Jason Dahlke tells us he saw an orange glow while watching TV. He says he called 911 and helped make sure his neighbor was safely out of the house.

Kenosha Fire Department changing hiring practice to increase applicant pool

Hoping to increase the pool of qualified candidates, the Kenosha Fire Department is shifting its hiring practice for new firefighters. The department this week posted its new requirements for applicants, the shift eliminating the requirement that candidates have firefighting training to apply. Kenosha Fire Chief Charles Leipzig said the change will open the door to more applicants.

Follow Up: Appleton names northside park in honor of fallen firefighter Mitch Lundgaard

A northside neighborhood park will be named Lundgaard Park in honor of fallen firefighter Mitch Lundgaard to ensure his sacrifice in the line of duty isn't forgotten. The Common Council voted unanimously Wednesday to name the 7-acre park in memory of Lungaard, who was fatally shot by a gunman during a May 15, 2019, medical call at the Valley Transit Center.

Reedsburg restaurant hosting spaghetti supper fundraiser for fire department

Summon the Heroes: Boston Pops pay tribute to health care workers, first responders

Unattended cooking causes Green Bay garage fire, $80,000 in damages

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to 2426 Robinson Ave. Tuesday at 3:28 PM for reports of a house on fire. Upon arrival, crews located the fire in the attached garage which was spreading into the attic. Firefighters made entry into the garage to knock down the fire while other firefighters pulled soffits and ceilings to extinguish the fire in the attic.
