Driver in West Allis heads to fire station with pet snake hiding in car, flat tire simultaneously

PHOTOS: Don’t you just hate it when you get a flat tire while your pet snake gets loose and is hiding somewhere in your car? Oh, that’s never happened to you? Well, that is exactly what happened to a driver in Wisconsin on Saturday, so he headed to the nearest fire station for help. A Facebook post from the West Allis Fire Department states that on November 11, a man showed up at the station saying his tire was low on air and that his pet ball python was hiding somewhere in his car.

Portage County firefighters and law enforcement officers honor veterans with new monument

Since 2014, firefighters and law enforcement officers from the city and across the county have gotten together to raise money to help veterans from all branches of the service. On Monday, they will reveal a veterans' memorial purchased through their fundraising efforts. At noon Monday, officials will unveil the $90,000 memorial, paid for by nine local sponsors, according to a news release sent by Portage County Sheriff Mike Lukas.

Farming equipment to blame after fire burns four acres in Schleswig

Authorities in Manitowoc County are blaming farming equipment as the cause of a four-acre fire on Thursday afternoon. According to Kiel Fire & Rescue, firefighters were sent to the intersection of County Road X and Wilke Lake Road in the Town of Schleswig for a half-acre of cornfield on fire. Upon arrival, fire crews found three acres of cornfield and a wooded area on fire.

Madison Fire Department: Ambulance damaged after driver backs into it on I-90

A driver damaged an ambulance Thursday morning after reversing and hitting the emergency vehicle while they were both pulled over on the interstate, Madison Fire Department reported. MFD explained the ambulance pulled up behind the vehicle stopped on I-90 eastbound around 5:15 a.m., noting it had its emergency lights on.

'I feel loved': Brookfield firefighter goes home nearly two months after car crash

Sparta firefighters had busy day with three separate fires

Members of the Sparta Area Fire District spent a good part of the day responding to three fires on Tuesday. Fire Chief Mike Arnold said the first call came in at 11:31 a.m. for a report of a forest fire on Airedale Avenue. He said that a landowner was using a torch while working on some farm machinery when he accidentally started some dry vegetation on fire.

Luxemburg home destroyed by fire

Wood-burning equipment is the likely cause of a house fire in the Town of Lincoln in Kewaunee County Tuesday night. The Luxemburg Community Fire Department was dispatched to the blaze on County Road C just after 7 p.m. to the report of a house fire with flames showing. The call was immediately upgraded to a multiple-alarm fire, triggering a response from the Casco, Brussels-Union-Gardner, New Franken, and Algoma Fire Departments.

Lost, trapped hunter rescued by Johnson Creek fire/EMS crews

Fire-rescue crews saved a hunter who got lost and stuck in a swampy part of Jefferson County. The Johnson Creek Fire Department says crews were called to County Trunk Y near Emerald Drive in Watertown Township around 5:30 p.m. Monday. The caller reported an elderly man had become disoriented while deer hunting and found himself trapped about one mile from the road.

Smoking materials cause porch fire in Fond Du Lac

Authorities say smoking materials were the cause of a porch fire on Tuesday night in Fond du Lac. According to a release from the Fond Du Lac Fire Rescue, crews responded at 10:21 p.m. to the back porch of a home on 123 West McWilliams Street for a reported fire. Officials say both smoke and fire coming from the wooden porch when they arrived on the scene.

Madison firefighters knock down fire at eastside office

Crews knock down large fire on Madison's east side, no injuries reported

New solar array takes Superior Fire Department off the grid

PHOTOS: Mayor Jim Paine had the honor of throwing the switch to take Superior Fire Department headquarters off the grid. The city’s first municipal solar array system, located on the roofs of the fire hall and an outbuilding at 3326 Tower Ave., was commissioned Thursday, Nov. 9. Construction of the solar array that will generate about 171,000 kilowatt-hours per year started in September.

Fire at Milwaukee restaurant leads to extensive damage

A fire broke out at Shark's Fish and Chicken, located near 60th and Villard in Milwaukee, causing significant damage to the building, according to the Milwaukee Fire Dept. MFD tells CBS 58 that they responded early Monday to the fire, which initially began inside the restaurant. Officials also note that the structure might not be salvageable due to the extent of the damage.

Fire at Cambridge Apartments in Milwaukee; 1 in critical condition

Ashwaubenon restaurant expected to be closed for a while after fire

PHOTOS: A day after providing free meals to Veterans, an Ashwaubenon restaurant is now expected to be closed for a while after a fire Sunday afternoon. Ashwaubenon Public Safety says the fire started outside Mission BBQ on Oneida Street. The fire made its way through the restaurant wall and into the ceiling area, which caused crews to knock out chunks of the ceiling.

Multiple people injured in crash in Slinger

PHOTOS: On November 12, 2023 at 3:38 p.m., Slinger Fire Department and Lifestar EMS were dispatched to the area of STH 60 at I-41, for a multi-vehicle injury crash. Dispatch advised there were several patients and at least one required extrication from their vehicle. Additional ambulances responded to the scene.

De Pere Fire Rescue raising money by selling 'Stuffed Stanleys'

Officials with the De Pere Fire Rescue recently announced that they are raising funds by selling what they are calling a “Stuffed Stanley.” Packers to wear 50s Classic Uniforms against the Los Angeles Chargers According to a Facebook post, a “Stuffed Stanley” is a stuffed animal version of the De Pere Fire Rescue’s newest teammate and therapy dog in training.

Wausau Fire Station One to expand on Grand Avenue

Wausau will buy two Grand Avenue properties to expand its central fire station, after a robust debate about due procedure and the role and jurisdiction of standing committees. The purchase price for the properties, at 811 and 815 Grand Ave., is roughly $800K. Wausau’s Finance Committee on Sept. 12 recommended the purchase after a closed session, and the city made an offer one week later.

South Area Fire and Emergency Response District raising awareness for men's health

VIDEO: While it might be common to see male firefighters wearing a mustache, at the SAFER Fire District, they're using their mustaches for much more than a fashion statement. They're raising awareness for a variety of issues faced by the men in their community. Deputy Chief Eric Lang said, "The big three that we would be raising awareness for are prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's mental health and suicide prevention.

Madison Fire Department rescues driver from wrecked dump truck after crash

VIDEO: The Madison Fire Department needed to bring a ladder truck to help rescue a driver whose dump truck had toppled onto its side. The truck rolled following a crash late Monday morning at the Wheeler Road East and Sherman Ave. intersection. A Madison Police Department statement about the wreck did not indicate what caused the collision or if any other vehicles were involved.
