Historic landmark designation impacting Wisconsin fire department plans

A La Crosse fire station is now a historical landmark, throwing a wrench into the La Crosse Fire Department’s redevelopment plans. Fire Station No. 4 has been standing at the corner of Gillette and Liberty Streets since 1940. It’s the oldest active fire station in La Crosse, but demolition and reconstruction plans put it at risk until a historic preservation group stepped in.

Texas fire chief calls fire at Lone Star Brewery ‘suspicious’; full investigation to follow

VIDEO: A fire at the Lone Star Brewery late Saturday night seems “suspicious,” according to San Antonio Fire Department Chief Charles Hood. The incident happened inside of the commercial brewery located at 600 Lone Star Boulevard. According to Hood, firefighters arrived at the building, saw the fire through the building’s roof and called for a second alarm.

Three Colorado EMS agencies featured in YouTube promotional campaign for FirstNet

For more than five years now, the Vail Police Department, the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office and the Gypsum Fire Department have worked with a national company called FirstNet to evaluate its high-speed broadband emergency communications platform. Now other agencies can view their testimonials regarding the service and associated equipment in a series of YouTube videos produced by the company to promote its product.

Food on the Stove to Test New App for Maryland Firefighters

Healthy, balanced meals were harder to come by for firefighters in the D.C. region until Food on the Stove came along. But starting next month, the nonprofit will beta test a new app that will pave the way for a healthier lifestyle among firehouses in Prince George’s County and beyond. Jonathan Tate founded the organization in July 2017 to help firefighters live healthier lives through nutrition and exercise.

Honoring an Arizona firefighter at the highest peak

Black Saturday: One of the largest fires in New York history in photos

Nearly 60 years ago, 100 homes were destroyed, as three different fires simultaneously burned through multiple Staten Island neighborhoods. On April 20, 1963, also known as Black Saturday, a total of three large brush fires began in Rossville, Tottenville, and Mariners Harbor. In their wake, the fires caused more than $2 million of property damage and left over 500 people homeless.

Officials: 2 injured in fire at New York home

VIDEO: A two-alarm fire in Gerritsen Beach left two people injured Thursday, fire officials say. The fire started at a house on the corner of Knapp Street and Avenue W at around 8 p.m. Citizen app footage shows the fire tearing through the home. Crews were eventually able to get the fire under control and extinguish it.

Senior living center in South Carolina housing firefighters

VIDEO: Members of Mount Pleasant Fire Station #5 are staying in unique temporary living quarters while the station undergoes renovations. Over the last month, fire crews have been living out of a villa at Somerby Senior Living in Mount Pleasant. 2 people rushed to hospital after jumping from top floor of burning Virginia condo building

VIDEO: Two people had to jump from the top floor to escape a massive condo fire early Thursday morning in Norfolk. Bill introduced in wake of New York firefighter's death

Lawmakers have introduced a bill to add vascular rupture to the list of injuries covered under the Volunteer Firefighters’ Benefit Law in honor of a Whitehall firefighter who died in September after suffering a line-of-duty injury last May. Domino Sugar refinery in Maryland goes up in flames

VIDEOS: A massive fire broke out at a historic Domino Sugar refinery in Baltimore on Tuesday, resulting in a large storage dome collapsing under the flames.
