Maine firetruck damaged in rollover on icy road

PHOTO - A town of Harrison firetruck suffered significant damage to its front end after it slid down a steep, icy private road and rolled over Sunday afternoon. Town Manager George “Bud” Finch said the driver, veteran volunteer firefighter Maurice Kautz, suffered minor cuts and bruises but was not seriously injured.

California firefighter's helmet camera captures dramatic rescue

VIDEO - A camera atop a firefighter's helmet, captured the dramatic rescue of a Fresno family from an apartment fire. Crews helped a total of seven people escape from the fire in central Fresno on Saturday, including a family of three on the second floor whose only way out was through a window. Fire had taken over the stairwell and the smoke was too thick to walk through.

Feds seek evidence of faked New Mexico USAR team credentials on laptop

California department cleared in fatal firetruck crash lawsuit

A judge has dismissed a wrongful-death lawsuit claiming the city should be held partially responsible for the death of a 19-year-old woman who was killed when the car she was riding in ran a red light and was broadsided by a fire truck. The crash occurred June 20, 2013, when a Honda Accord driven by Robbie Dean Gillespie, 45, ran a red light on Midland Road at Poway Road about 4 a.

Combat veteran beats paralysis to become Colorado hotshot recruit

FDNY Firefighters fined for accepting free 2014 Super Bowl tickets

Florida city says firefighters with waivers must shave

Nearly a dozen black firefighters in Jacksonville have been sent home for something they didn't do: shave. State rules require firefighters to have a clean-shaven face when they have to wear an oxygen mask. Wyoming Chief Succumbs to Injuries from Brush Fire

Members of the Fremont County Fire Protection District are mourning the loss of Deputy Chief Clarence “Speed” Hartbank. The 45-year member of the department passed away Wednesday afternoon. Hartbank was commanding a Sept. 10 grass fire on Eight Mile Road. While he was surveying damage to a ground-level bunker, he fell through a hole and into the fire.

Portland, Oregon fire chief announces she'll retire in April

Portland Fire Chief Erin Janssens, who took the helm of the Fire & Rescue Bureau three and a half years ago, announced Wednesday she'll retire in April after nearly 28 years of city service. New Hampshire chief injured after fire truck rolls over, takes down utility pole

VIDEO - Wires were knocked down and a state highway was closed after a fire truck rolled over Wednesday in Effingham. Route 153 was closed near Plantation Road after the fire truck rolled over onto its roof. Effingham resident Cindy Espie said she heard the crash. "I ran to the window and looked out, and I couldn't believe what I saw," Espie said.

2 children killed in Delaware fire; Firefighter forced to bail out window

Boston Fire Dept. commish blames former mayor for aging stations

Fire stations in the city are crumbling and in “poor condition,” with some even lacking functional smoke detectors and carbon monoxide monitors, according to a city audit.
