Fire department in Washington state keeping all of its firefighters with vaccine exemptions

The Spokane Valley Fire Department isn’t losing a single firefighter with an exemption over the COVID-19 vaccine mandate. It worked out accommodations for the 22 who had a medical or religious exemption approved. The biggest change is those who are unvaccinated and staying on the frontlines will be separated from the rest of the department.

VIDEO: California mobile home park fire hospitalizes 1, prompts evacuations

At least one person was severely burned in a fire that started Monday afternoon at mobile homes in Manteca and prompted evacuations, authorities say. Multiple homes caught fire at the Islander Mobile Home Park. Embers from that fire then sparked a vegetation fire close to the mobile home neighborhood, fire officials said.

Florida police, firefighters hope stickers will speak for special needs patients who can't

Something as simple as a sticker can now be a game-changer for first responders. The Tampa Police Department and Tampa Fire Rescue came together Monday to unveil stickers they developed to identify specific special needs. A Palm Harbor firefighter and paramedic received a hero’s welcome at a community fundraiser Saturday after she was nearly killed on the job just a few weeks ago. Lt. 25% of all critical infrastructure in the US is at risk of failure due to flooding, new report finds

As a massive investment to repair roads and adapt to climate change faces an uncertain fate in Congress, a new report finds much of the country's infrastructure is already at risk of being shut down by flooding. And as the planet heats up, the threat is expected to grow. California firefighters responded to a person stuck on cliffside; They found a mannequin instead

A cliff rescue resulted in a surprise for firefighters in Santa Barbara on Monday. Maine father and son firefighting team honored before heading overseas for deployment

Connecticut's bravest show breast cancer support with custom pink helmet badges

Local firefighters will be showing off their colorful side this month, with unique pink ribbon badges adorning their helmet fronts. Pink ribbons are a universal symbol of breast cancer prevention and support and typically worn during Breast Cancer Awareness Month each October. Deputy Fire Chief Paul Wilson said the decision to go with pink helmet badges was made to show support and solidarity for the cause.
