North Carolina firefighters, supporters are pushing hard for PFAS-free turnout gear

Firefighting is an occupation that comes with inherent risks. In addition to the physical demands, there are also health risks associated with the job. For instance, the rate at which firefighters develop cancer outpaces the general population by 9 percent, and their risk of dying from cancer is 14 percent higher, according to a study published by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

Five new 9/11 bills signed into law in New York

The bills are expected to help and support New Yorkers "whose lives were transformed on that terrible day." In remembrance of the 21st anniversary of 9/11, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul today signed five pieces of legislation that officials believe will provide support to 9/11 victims, survivors and their families.

'It’s been a good ride': Wisconsin firefighter set to complete 50 years of service before his retirement

VIDEO: 3 firefighters injured after fire erupts at historic church in South Los Angeles

Three firefighters were injured early Sunday morning while battling a fire that engulfed a historic church in South Los Angeles, officials said. More than 100 firefighters responded to the major emergency fire at Victory Baptist Church at 4802 S. Mckinley Ave. for one hour and 40 minutes. One firefighter suffered moderate injuries and two others sustained minor injuries; two of them were transported to a hospital while the other was treated at the scene, an LAFD spokesperson said.

First responders pay tribute to fallen heroes on 9/11 in Texas county

Oklahoma State University Fire Training program gets first new truck in 90 years

Renovated former hospital in Vermont now housing for firefighters
